Longmont AC Tune-Up: What’s Involved
Many companies offer more than one type of maintenance program so as to accommodate the different budgets of their customers. The more one pays, the more comprehensive the tune-up will be. Let’s focus on the basic maintenance tasks, though. Here are a few:
- A visual inspection of the AC
- Air filter cleaning or replacement
- Electrical wiring checks or replacement
- Evaporator/condenser coil cleaning
You don’t want old, loose wiring in your system because this is a fire hazard. Dirty coils can hinder the transfer of heat from your home, resulting in lukewarm air. They could also cause your AC to overheat. As you can see, then, maintenance has its safety benefits.
One of our HVAC technicians will also check for leaks, including refrigerant leaks and air leaks in the ductwork. Another task that would fall under the scope of a tune-up is thermostat calibration; this is important because thermostats gradually lose their accuracy and, misreading your indoor temperature, make your AC run at inappropriate times.
At the end of the maintenance visit, you can expect a written report of what was done. The technician may recommend further repairs, too, which will be up to you to schedule.
